The iphone-dev team website currently reads "Happy Update Day!"
All mobile phones coming into the Philippines require inspection and approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). Ever since this policy was approved, each and every phone inspected bears the NTC logo and sticker within it.

Because most phones have replaceable batteries, the stickers are usually hidden within the battery compartment. But the iPhone has no replaceable battery, and thus, no removable cover to hide the unsightly sticker.
Fortunately, all has been solved! Apple, Globe, or the NTC, or all of them have prevented a potentially ugly problem and actually came up with a tasteful solution...

After lowering the cash outlay for Apple iPhone 3Gs last week, Globe has silently updated their website again! This time, get a discounted iPhone for a lower post-paid plan.

A sharp-eyed reader informed me that Globe is now offering a GText 500 plan for the iPhone 3G with a discounted P29,000 price for the 8GB and P34,300 for the 16GB. Substantial discounts of P8,499 and P9,499 respectively.
