PwnageTool 2.0.3 released an hour ago

The iphone-dev team website currently reads "Happy Update Day!"

Happy indeed for iPhone users as the dev team releases the latest PwnageTool version 2.0.3 that is compatible with the latest iPhone update, the iPhone firmware 2.0.2 build 5C1, which is also compatible with the iPod Touch.

The PwnageTool also includes Installer.app beta 6 and German localization.

The site notes not to use The Unarchiver to decompress the download, but instead rely on the standard built-in utility of Mac OS X. Other decompression tools should also work such as Stuffit Expander.

On the Windows side, the QuickPwn application has also been updated with a release 150 beta, also downloadable today. Note that QuickPawn for Windows may not work properly under virtualization, and are therefore not suitable for VMware Fusion or Parallels use.

No new updates are available for 3G users looking for an unlock. Although the PwnageTool released today can jailbreak iPhone 3G as wall as the older model.

iPhone 3G has printed NTC Approval and Logo instead of sticker

All mobile phones coming into the Philippines require inspection and approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). Ever since this policy was approved, each and every phone inspected bears the NTC logo and sticker within it.

Because most phones have replaceable batteries, the stickers are usually hidden within the battery compartment. But the iPhone has no replaceable battery, and thus, no removable cover to hide the unsightly sticker.

Fortunately, all has been solved! Apple, Globe, or the NTC, or all of them have prevented a potentially ugly problem and actually came up with a tasteful solution...
