The best camera is only as good as the times you’re carrying it. Since buying an EOS SLR (Single Lens Reflex camera – those big cameras with replaceable lens) in the late 1980s, I’ve never really considered buying another heavy beast. For one thing–the only thing– it’s heavy!

Now, there’s really no reason to! A compact consumer camera with the great photos of an DSLR (Digital SLR) is here.

Touted as the best camera by TWIP (This Week In Photography), Leo Laporte at MacBreak Podcast, and various blogs I’ve researched, the Panasonic Lumix LX3 has been reviewed by countless sites as the best digital camera short of getting a high-end DSLR.

And for someone who truly wants to have the best and money is not a problem, there’s the Leica DLUX 4. Its a premium version of the Panasonic Lumix LX3 for the elite.

Both cameras have lens made by Leica, 10megapixel resolution, 3 inch LCD screen, and full manual & full auto modes.

I want one!
